Kenneth A. Williams, 60, of Carbon Cliff, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to an education fund for his daughter.
Kenny was born Sept. 25, 1955, in Moline, the son of Bud and Jane Speckman Williams. He graduated from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. In early years he wrote for the Moline Dispatch. He taught in the Winona School District and was a substitute teacher at United Township High School and many area schools. He served 30 years as mayor of the Village of Carbon Cliff and had spent 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Ken served on the Bi-State Commission, the Carbon Cliff/Barstow School Board, was past president of the Illinois Tax Increment Association and was a master board member for the State of Illinois. Ken played Beauregard the Werewolf for the Acri "Creature Feature" during the 1970s. Ken loved his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his special friend, LeeVon Harris; children, Joseph Williams, Melshawnda Roark, Adidas Williams, Dominique Waldon, Devario Harris, Damonte Harris, Jamerrionna Harris Williams and Jeffrey Moore; grandchildren, London, Tooty, Sarayah, Joe Real, Dakarion, Imani, Dashad, Mya, Savante, Iasiah and Jazlynn; his father, Bud (Wendy) Williams, Colona; sister, Kindra (Anthony) Slininger, Clinton, Iowa; and brother, Kevin (K'Lea) Williams, Matherville.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
